Tsunami warning in effect

A tsunami warning was raised for Tonga, Niue, American Samoa, Fiji and surrounding areas according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. A magnitude 8.0 earthquake hit the Tonga Islands at around 11pm local time. The advisory does not state if a tsunami was generated but stands as an advisory for other areas in the Pacific.
Update:
Tsunami warning has been lifted about 2 hours after the intial warning was sent.
