The Manila staycation guide

A few years back, I've enjoyed my Metro Manila staycation with a post-zombie apocalypse photowalk of the usually busy Makati.
Since a lot of people are staying over this long weekend, I compiled a list of things to do:
10. Try your own Visita Iglesia in Manila as suggested by the MMDA. You can sort the churches by architecture (i.e. Parish of the Holy Sacrifice in UP and the Gesu Church in Ateneo) or by historical block (i.e. Manila Cathedral and Quiapo Church).
9. UP Diliman will be mostly empty so an instant picnic with a couple of friends at Sunken Garden can take up your Friday afternoon. Don't forget to clean up after.
8. Try your hand at your very own photo walk of Manila or Makati, you can even do a photohunt for the 4 statues that surround the Ayala Triangle. For Manila, ask tips from Manila's uber guide Carlos Celdran.
7. Run, bike and roam the empty streets of the city!
6. Instant dinner party: buy your groceries before the shops close and invite some friends over for game night or a movie marathon.
5. De-stress by getting a massage, and yes, there's one open this Holy Week like Nuat Thai in Libis.
4. Enjoy the long and hot summer weekend at a hotel pool side: The Remington in Pasay is not too expensive but if you've got a big paycheck try Sofitel or Shangri-la in Edsa or Makati.
3. Use the long weekend to learn something new: read, download an audio book, watch a video on how to bake or introduce yourself to car maintenance.
2. and 1. A lot of people I know will be spring cleaning. Instead of throwing out those previously owned bags, clothes and shoes, try to donate them to an orphanage like Asilo de San Vicente de Paul in Manila. You can also try to donate old books to the UP College of Fine Art's book drive. Box it up and drop it off by April 15.
