Smog over Hong Kong
Captured with a HTC One X in Harbour Plaza Metropolis on Thursday, 10 October 2013 9:43 am
I love Hong Kong. It was the first city I've ever been to outside The Philippines and it will always be fascinating to me. After many years of visiting, I caught this early morning shot of the city where a thin layer of pollution hovers over the harbor. According to the WHO, the 2009 mean PM10 (Particulate matter with diameter of 10 μm or less) of the city was roughly 50 ug/m3. That's roughly 3 more than Manila's 2007 mean PM10 of 47 ug/m3. This means that somehow Hong Kong has worse air quality than the Philippines' capital.
If you've been waking up early for a brisk walk or jog in the past few weeks, have you been feeling the effects of pollution in your city?
